Case study  ·  Thought-leadership brand

2026

A brand for the
next layer of finance.

Designing the identity for The Shift, the thought-leadership brand of Maksym Sakharov, Founder & Group CEO of WeFi: a logo built from scratch, a full brand guideline, and a social template system that turns dense infrastructure ideas into scroll-stopping posts.

01  ·  Overview

Banking is changing
below the surface.

The brand

The Shift is the thought-leadership brand of Maksym Sakharov, Founder & Group CEO of WeFi. It explores the structural changes reshaping finance, as banking moves to infrastructure that is regulated, onchain, programmable and globally accessible, told from the perspective of an operator building it.

The brief

Give a founder’s point of view its own identity, separate from the WeFi company brand yet just as credible: as trusted as a private bank and as forward-looking as the technology behind it. Then build a repeatable social system, so complex ideas can ship every week without the feed looking templated.

02  ·  Approach

Quiet luxury, structural thinking.

  1. 01

    Two blocks, one shift

The wordmark sits on two offset tiles: gold for “The”, black for “Shift”. The step between them is the idea itself, a visible move from one layer to the next.

  2. 02

    Dark noir, light calm

Every asset works in two moods: architectural noir with gold edge-light, and warm ivory minimalism. Alternating them keeps the feed rhythmic without breaking the system.

  3. 03

    Gold as a controlled accent

Gold is never a wash. It appears through lighting, edges, typography and sculptural details, so it always reads as premium and never as loud.

03  ·  Logo design

Starting from a blank canvas, I explored typographic and monogram routes before landing on the stepped block lockup. “The” and “Shift” sit on separate tiles that overlap by a fixed module, so the mark reads as movement even at avatar size. A construction grid locks spacing and clear space, and four colourways cover dark and light backgrounds.

04  ·  Colour & type

Antique gold
on rich black.

The palette is deliberately narrow: two golds, two blacks, a charcoal taupe and two warm neutrals. Financier Display brings the editorial, private-bank voice for headlines, while Inter handles everything functional, from kickers to captions. Together they make long-form finance feel like a publication, not a product.

05  ·  Social media templates

A template system,
designed from zero.

There were no existing assets to build on. I designed two formats from scratch, a 4:5 feed post and a 16:9 landscape, on one shared skeleton: a short kicker, a serif headline in gold, the logo lockup top-right, and a single sculptural image carrying the idea. Swap the image and the line, and a new post is ready in minutes.

  • 2formats: 4:5 feed and 16:9 landscape
  • 2modes: dark noir and light ivory
  • 17launch posts produced on the system
  • 1skeleton: kicker, headline, logo, image

Feed · 4:5

A grid of 4:5 feed posts alternating noir and ivory, each with a gold serif headline and the stepped logo

Landscape · 16:9

16:9 landscape posts on the same skeleton: kicker, gold headline, logo and a sculptural render

06  ·  Image direction

Architecture
as metaphor.

Finance infrastructure is invisible, so the imagery makes it physical. Bank façades for the old system, layered grids for settlement, bridges for connection, an iceberg for everything below the interface. Each render is treated like a museum piece: centred, tactile and quietly surreal, in either nocturnal gold or soft daylight.

07  ·  Rollout

From the feed
to the real world.

The system was tested where it lives: an Instagram grid that alternates dark and light tiles into a clear rhythm, and merchandise where the stepped lockup works as a tag, a patch and a print.
